Most of these programs cost families nothing and are available through your school and district — you just have to know they exist and how to ask. Below, the biggest programs, the everyday family supports, and the programs for students in specific situations. A note: federal education programs are currently being restructured, and some functions are shifting between agencies — the programs continue, but your school or district is always the reliable place to confirm what’s available now.
