What your state tests
Iowa uses the ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) for grades 3–11 in English language arts and mathematics, plus science at designated grades. Run by the Iowa Department of Education and aligned to the Iowa Core. There's no exit-exam gate.

Is passing required to graduate?
No exit-exam gate. Iowa doesn't require passing a state test to graduate; districts set course and credit requirements.
How it's scored
ISASP reports achievement levels (Not Yet Proficient, Proficient, Advanced) and college-readiness benchmarks.
Testing windows
ISASP is given in a spring window (roughly March–May) set by each district.

Participation & opting out
Students in tested grades participate. Ask your district about make-up windows and any questions.
Accommodations & multilingual learners
Accommodations follow a student's IEP or 504 plan; eligible students take the state's alternate assessment. Multilingual learners take an English proficiency test (WIDA ACCESS or the state equivalent) and may receive designated supports.
