What it is
Human development & family studies (HDFS) is the study of how people grow and develop across the lifespan and within families and communities — child development, relationships, aging, and family well-being. It prepares graduates for careers helping children, families, and communities.
Career context: HDFS is a broad, people-focused degree. Many entry roles in social and community services pay modestly, and the strongest careers (counseling, social work, therapy) often require graduate study and licensure.
