How Arizona funds schools

Arizona funds schools through its statutory school-finance formula: each district’s Base Support Level is its weighted student count times a per-student Base Level Amount ($5,013.33 in 2024–25), with added weights for grade level, small or isolated districts, special education, English learners and K–3 reading, and state Basic State Aid fills the gap left by local property taxes. The enhanced Proposition 123 land-trust distribution stepped down from 6.9% to 2.5% in FY2026.
